Trust Horizon begins search for new appointed Trustee as Don Lewell departs
After almost a decade with Trust Horizon, Don Lewell has made the decision to step down from his role as Trustee – sparking the search for a new addition to join the team.
Mr. Lewell, an electrical engineer who moved to the Eastern Bay of Plenty in 1983, will be stepping away to spend more time with family and enjoy his retirement. “I hadn’t planned on retiring, but my grandkids moved back to New Zealand from Germany last year and we have another grandchild arriving in March,” says Mr. Lewell. “Now feels like the right time to do something different, and move into the next stage of life.”
Shortly after joining the Trust, Mr. Lewell was appointed Chairman – a role he held for eight years, before handing over the reins to Aaron Milne in 2019. In his time as Chairman, Mr. Lewell oversaw the purchase of 100% of Horizon Network, and helped the Trust bring new growth and opportunities to the Eastern Bay’s economy. “Don has been an invaluable part of our team of Trustees, and we wish him all the best for his retirement,” says Trust Horizon Chairman, Mr. Milne. “His departure will create an opening for a new appointed Trustee, which we’re currently seeking expressions of interest for.”
Along with a passion for the Eastern Bay community, the right candidate will also demonstrate strong leadership, governance, commercial and investment expertise. “The Trustees work together well, and have a unified view of where we want to take the Trust in the future,” says Mr. Milne. “The right person will be a good team member, who will also be very well networked in the EBOP community.”
