Trust Horizon Donates iPads to Worthy Cause

Students from across the rural Eastern Bay of Plenty are soon to gain access to a new digital resource, thanks to Trust Horizon’s decision to gift their old iPads to Eastbay REAP (Rural Education Activities Programme).

The factory-reset iPads have been passed to Dr. Ryan Morrison, Eastbay REAP’s CEO, and will be provided to suitable recipients for education purposes. Based from Murupara to Ōpōtiki, recipients will include solo mothers striving for tertiary study, alternative education graduates, youth programme attendees, and literacy students. “Eastbay REAP is excited to share these iPads with some of our rural lifelong learners across the region,” says Mr. Morrison. “Many of our families don’t have access to these kinds of digital resources, so this is a real win in their world.”

Mr. Morrison says that various REAP activities have given these students the skills and confidence to put the iPads to use – both in further learning and everyday life. “Staying connected digitally is a given in the post-COVID world, so it’s fantastic to support a few more whānau to be able to do so.”

Trust Horizon Manager Derek Caudwell believes this is a great opportunity to provide a new digital learning tool to those otherwise unable to afford a device. “Our Trustees are all very supportive of the approach,” says Mr. Caudwell. “The Trust looks forward to seeing the educational benefits unfold in the rural Eastern Bay community.”

Happy New Year from the Trust Horizon team.
