Trust Horizon finds internal appointment for new Trust Manager
Following a robust external recruitment process, Trust Horizon (previously Eastern Bay Energy Trust) is pleased to announce the appointment of their new Trust Manager, Derek Caudwell.
Mr. Caudwell joins the Trust following almost a decade as General Manager at Horizon Energy Group (HEG), which the Trust is proud to locally own. “After helping generate a strong dividend for the Trust over the last 10 years, it’ll be great to see first-hand how that revenue is reinvested back into the community,” he says. “I’m excited to take the role on and am looking forward to working on opportunities that are transformational for our region.”
Mr. Caudwell is set to take the reins from departing Trust Manager Rawinia Kamau, who – after six successful years with the Trust – has decided to return to her roots in the regional development space. “My decision to move on came with some nerves about the gap that might be left behind,” says Kamau. “However Derek’s appointment gives me great comfort that the community is in capable and committed hands.”
The appointment further cements the strong connection between the Trust and HEG, which has grown only stronger since the organisation’s recent rebrand to Trust Horizon. Caudwell has already collaborated closely with the Trust on several successful projects – including the installation of EV Chargers, work in the energy education space, undergrounding of Network assets, and support for the Electricity Supply Taster Course.
As a member of the broader Horizon team, Mr. Caudwell is also already familiar with the Trust’s new focus on investing in projects that will bring transformational change to the region. “I look forward to helping operationalise the Trust’s strategy around impact investing and transformational community change,” he says. “The opportunity to enact that high-level strategy and make it real is an exciting one.”
