When nominations closed at 12 noon on Friday 9 August 2019 for the Eastern Bay Energy Trust election, a total of three nominations had been received: one for the Kawerau District Council area (for one vacancy), and two for the Opotiki District Council area (for one vacancy).

The one nomination for the Kawerau District Council area was from incumbent trustee Edwina O’Brien. As the number of candidates does not exceed the number of positions (1) an election will not be required. This candidate is therefore declared elected unopposed.
